Santa Maria della Vittoria, Rome

Santa Maria della Vittoria, Rome is a church basilica in Rome. The Santa Maria della Vittoria, Rome was launched in 1605 by architect Carlo Moderno as a chapel dedicated to St. Paul, the apostle of Discalced Carmelites. But after the Catholic won the Battle of White Mountain, Chapel was dedicated to Virgin Mary. The Santa Maria della Vittoria, Rome has won fame and popularity and is a major tourist attraction in Rome after the church was presented in a novel Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. Carlo Maderno designed Santa Maria della Vittoria church. His front porch was built by Soria influence and by another Maderno notable works of Santa Susanna. The interior of the church was once destroyed by fire in 1883, but later it was restored.

The interior of Santa Maria Della Vitoria is a singlewide nave. The interconnection of the three side chapels are separated by enormous pilasters .After the death of Maderno, the inside was enriched sequentially. The church is famous for works by Bernini, Estacy of St Teresa, who is in the corner of the chapel. The statue represents a time lived by St. Teresa of Avila as has been said by him in his autobiography. The statue shows an angel piercing her heart with a tree to cause her pain and joy.

The last three paintings by Domenichino Santa Maria Della Vittoria, Rome deserve special mention. Other sculptures that adorn the Santa Maria Della Vitoria church are The Dream of Joseph and the funeral of Cardinal Berlingheiro Gessi.

Some murals were introduced in the Santa Maria della Vittoria in 1675. The Virgin Mary triumph of heresy and fall of Rebel Angels by Giovanni Domenico Cerrini deserves special mention. The interior is rich with very sophisticated stucco and marble friezes. The Santa Maria della Vittoria, Rome retains a few vestiges of the battle of Prague and also some items belonging to the Christian army which fought the Turks.
