Sistine Chapel, Rome

The Sistine Chapel, Rome is in the Apostolic Palace, which is the official residence of the Pope in the Vatican City. The Sistine Chapel, Rome is known for its architecture, which brings to our mind the Temple of Solomon in the Old Testament and its decoration by some remarkable artists of the Renaissance including Michelangelo. The Vatican's Sistine Chapel, Rome was built by Pope Sixtus IV between 1477 and 1480 and is one of the main attractions of Rome.

Sistine Chapel, Rome is famous for the Papal Conclaves where the new pope is selected in a conclave of the College of Cardinals.

On this occasion, a fire is established in the roof of the chapel with the smoke coming out. If the white smoke leaves, it means the election of new Pope. If black smoke fate, it means that the pope could be elected with success.

The Sistine Chapel is a rectangular building without decoration .Architectural details outside thet building are common to other churches of the Middle Ages. It has no outside as the door is in the rooms inside the palace. The chapel has three storey, the lowest utilities have many windows and a door opening to the outside court. The palace had six windows, high, some of which are blocked.

The walls are divided into three levels. The lower level is decorated with wall hangings painted gold and silver. The middle row has paintings on the life of Moses and Christ's life.

The top layer is again divided into two zones, including a gallery of the Popes and top layer most of the ancestors of Christ was painted by Michelangelo.

The ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, Rome was painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512 a series of nine paintings depicting God's creation of the world, God's relationship with humanity and the fall of humanity to God of space.
